There is no doubt tilting, roof-mounted systems are best, however, portable systems can be just as effective for some RVers at a fraction of the cost. I had 405W tilting system professionally installed on top of my moho that I sold last year and it was great...and also very expensive.
I just purchased a portable 120W kit for my new TT for one-tenth of what I paid for my roof mounted system on the moho and I'm confident the small system will meet most of my needs.
Today I had a chance to try out the portable kit and it was a breeze to set it up. The 120W system, along with a 2,000W inverter genny will be more than adequate for dry camping several days at a time.
