K&N does make a drop in replacement (I'm a K&N dealer in my other life). That filter minder is just an indicator of a plugged filter. Nothing more. If you gage your filter changes by it, you are being very remiss in maintenance. Filters are only as good as the person who rakes care of the,, K&N's included.
