UH OOH, didn't mean to start filter controversy. We believe what we ourselves become convinced since the internet seems to have a lot of 'Truth Decay' How can one become educated.
I apologize for bashing K&N. It's that I saw some pics a few years ago and read discussion how the filter media breaks down with the reusable filters during the cleaning process.
Media breaks down... Not really, so long as you use a mild detergent to clean the filter and no high pressure water. I use the K&N cleaning kit myself but I have used Purple Power as well.
You can bash anything you want but it always is prudent to know the facts before 'bashing'
I looked at the Riff-Raff intake. Looks to be a vaible replacement for the stock, very restrictive air box. I see the replacement elements aren't cheap either. I use Riff-Raff components myself.
The airbox to turbo intake piping is no longer available from the OEM at all. The Riff-Raff piping is a superior alternative, I run both the intake piping and the pressure side flex piping.
Far as the impeller on the turbo goes, it's easily replaceable and Riff -Raff offers both the oem impeller and the quick spool up impeller. Takes about 5 minutes to replace one.
On the 7.3's the best refit is still the delete pedestal. Getting rid of the leaky cold start actuator is a big benefit. It's not an easy install however as you have to pull the turbo and remove the OEM pedestal which is hard to do.
Been there and did all that stuff.
