Anything before Tier 4 has minimal emissions hardware anyway. Your truck probably came with a crankcase emissions (oil blowby separator) which is on top of the drivers side valve cover and feeds into the cast aluminum turbo intake stub via a venturi pipe. I eliminated mine and I vent the blowby directly to the atmosphere via a road draft tube. Thats about it emissions wise on a 7.3 IDI engine.
Problem with putting blowby into the intake is, the blowby condenses in the turbo housing on the cold side and builds up a crust, eventually restricting the impeller and air flow.
On the exhaust side, OEM builds had a Donaldson catalytic converter just aft of the turbo down pipe, I eliminated that as well. Basically, all it was, was a soot trap. I run a straight 5" all the way back.
