A dually never needs 80 lbs inflation in LT235/80R17E's at rated at 2470 each in dual applications at the factory 65 lbs placarding. That is 9880 which is over the rating of the current dualies RGAWR. Over inflation increases the chance of impact damage to a tire and decreases the contact patch and braking.
But old habits die hard!
At the 35 lbs a lot of people run empty they are rated at 1725 each or 6900 total, which is good for throwing around 3K in the bed for casual hauling.
I dont know wher you get these figures from.
9880 lbs AT 65 PSI and then 6900 lbs AT 35 psi.
When I calculate it with American used formula for LT , I come to 6400 AT 35 psi and If I calculate it with European official formula for all kind of tires , it comes to 6020 lbs .
Calculated for 6900 lbs it would need Eur calc 41.5 psi so about 20% higher pressure. 35 then would give about 30% more deflection so 30% more heatproduction at the same speed.
