So I'm looking at a crew cab long box 2017 gmc, either the Denali or slt depending what they can find me.. I'm really suprised to see the the srw is rated at 4188 with the duramax engine!
Keep in mind here that 4188 lb payload is a gvwr based payload...in other words most will go on the srw trucks 7050 rear axle and the rest on the trucks front axle.
Now how much load can a 3500 SRW carry in the bed before exceeding 7050 rawr (rawr is the lessor of the tires/wheels and rear spring pack). The 11.5" AAM rear axle itself is used on the 2500/3500 diesel equiped trucks and is rated up to around 10800 lb so its not a problem.
Just as a example......These trucks rear axle can weigh in the 3300-3400 lb range from the factory leaving 3600-3700 lbs for a payload in the bed. The rest of that 4188 lbs will have to go on the trucks front axle.
I would be looking at the DRW truck..... or mod the SRW with 19.5" tires and wheels/rear suspension help like some have done over on the truck camper forum.
