I cannot imagine not using a hose. You could never get the valve open and out of the way fast enough to not have raw sewage splashing on you. People are amzaing. I've never seen anyone dump without a hose. That being said, don't miss out on the state parks because they don't have full hook-ups. Our MD and DE state parks typically do not have sewer hook-ups and you just dump on the way out at the dump station. For weekend trips, with a little water conservation you should be able to get thru the weekend without having to use your tote for the grey water as well.
I expect you do this at your full hook-up sites already but it is worth mentioning, always dump the black tank first and then the grey. That way the soapy grey tank water will rinse out the sewer hose.
