AGREED!
Locally if I have a couple cans of stuff to dispose of, it is $20 after I drive 12 miles to the recycling center. That is because they have a minimum amount. Sure, they give the spin that 'you can dump a whole pickup load for that price'. This is why people dump a can or two here & there in the woods.
As for recycling... I had a couple hundred pounds of scrap metal to get rid of, around $20 worth. Brake rotors & stuff I had accumulated over the years. They wanted a copy of my driver's license AND my biometric information (fingerprints). I am very concerned about my privacy and my personal information. The individual at the recycling yard clearly had English as a 2nd language and explained to me that they would be the only ones accessing my personal information. Yeah, no thanks, I'll pass on the recycling.
