I know nothing about diesels but we have had issues with gaskets going in early 2000s Chevy due to dexcool antifreeze eating away gaskets. Happened to two Buicks. Our mechanic friend along with his manager all said Chevy gaskets and dexcool helped with there bussiness addition.
OP sorry to hear, I have been there but with cheaper gassers.
Don't have a diesel have a 2013 6.0 2500. Heard I need to get the dexcool out and replace with Preston. Heard the dexcool is very acidic and eats pin holes in hoses and head gaskets. Don't know for a fact.

Let clear up the misinformation on the DEX cool and get on track with ops original post. Dex cool was bad for the 3.1, 3.4, 3.8, 4.3 some Vortec 350s and 454s.
Your motor is LS based. The LS1 came out in 1997 in the Corvette, every small block GM makes now is just an updated version of that motor. Dex Cool does not hurt them.
The original intakes gaskets in the motors I mentioned were plastic framed and when the system would run low, the acidity of the Dex would eat the gasket and cause failure. I had to replace the gaskets on my 01 Grand Prix GTP and supercharged Regal GS. I used the Felpro Problem solver gaskets. They are metal framed, do not deteriorate and prevent over torqueing of the gasket. The Dex will not hurt a 2013 or any LS based motor, like the 6.0 or the 5.7 LS1 in my Trans Am. They have a dry intake. No coolant or oil touches it. Do not remove the Dex from your truck. It will be fine.
Here is what my Buick looked like when I pulled it apart. The pervious owner had used stop leak in it, Stop leak is a bad band aid. Picked the car up cheap with 63,000 miles on it. I am now at 110,000 with no issues. You have to catch it and maintain I properly.

DEX COOL is not why the OPs truck failed.
