The engine may have not literally been built on a Monday morning or Friday evening, but it could very well be that one or more people on the line were not performing up to par at the moment this engine passed their station. Think figuratively.
Then again there are hundreds of individual parts that make up this engine, any of which could have a microscopic flaw that would pass normal QC and any visual inspection.
Still not a reason to condemn a whole brand.

Agree 100%; stinks for the OP but way too many DMaxes will stellar performance records to throw out the baby with the bath water.
