Tell you what you do, go to your local parts house and tell them you want a thermostat for a 2003 Ford Ranger with a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder gas motor in it and then report back here on your findings.
$28 at Advance for the Stant. Not bad when you consider you get the housing for free. :)
While you are at it tell them you also need a rear axle seal for a 2005 Nissan Titan 2wd.;)
Which one - prices were all over the map for oil seals - $9 to $300.
Ain't the internet great! :)
Yes it is great, but the T-stat at Advance Auto is $150.99. The thing that they don't tell you about the rear axle seal is that the bearing has to be pressed off then pressed back on to replace the seal. Also when it is done this way, there is a 75% probability that it won't last the warranty so you have to do it again and again. Nissan will only change out the axle shaft which comes with the new seal installed. Now you have to pay the labor to do this stuff. I know it's not $5000 but this is just simple stuff on light duty trucks. Maybe some could tell me how much it use to cost to have the heads fixed on the 5.4 liter Triton before they fixed the spark plug problem? That was a great motor. I have a buddy that has over 400,000 miles on one but he has gone though 3 sets of heads, an intake, and at least 12 coils to get it there.
