With all the monkey business of OEM emission cheats, Coal rolling yahoo's and increasingly aggressive environmental anti-diesel lobbying I see a future where diesel powered vehicles especially 3/4 and 1 ton trucks will be illegal to own unless they are for commercial business use only.
If you listen to the transportation futurists nobody will "Own" their own vehicle sooner than later only buying transportation sharing timeshares of boxes with batteries and wheels.
I am becoming quite convinced the days of the average middle class citizen individual vehicle ownership is numbered leaving those of us wanting a vehicle for purposes other than utilitarianism getting from point "A to point "B" we will be no more.
Stories like this only cause me to fear that this will happen faster.
Please someone give me facts to dispel my fear that this is the future of vehicle ownership and individual rights to own and drive what we want.
I may have been reading to much propaganda from Jim Hackett of Ford and ELon Musk of Tesla. Mobility of the future a mere 20 years out we are being told will not include any individual car ownership at all. We will all be sharing fleets of autonomous shared vehicle that we summon with our 21st century smartphones.
Back to reality, fiasco's like the Bosch emission cheating scandal will only propel activists to try to demonize and restrict diesel vehicle ownership faster. There are already movements to ban private ownership of diesel vehicle in several EU's countries in urban areas.
