Duramax is king of the mountain again

Why if I may ask,do you feel the need for the added expense and isssues with air brakes for a 17K pound load on a regular basis?.I did it for years with my dually dodge with cummins and manual transmission with an exhaust brake and ran thru out the NW and mountain states with no issues.
Certainly not "dogging" your choices,just curious.
