I'm glad this thread has stayed on topic...
My favorite part about the redesigned Duramax (besides the insane power jump) is the Denso HPFP as opposed to the Bosch. GM has had plenty of experience with the Bosch and is giving the Denso a try. Seeing as to how GM actually provides a warranty for their HPFP, they must have more faith in the Denso over the Bosch. I am quite curious to see how the Denso works out.
I'll be honest, the Bosch fuel pump is one of the big reasons I did not consider a Ford diesel. While I am sure that failures are rare, they still happen and happen with zero fault of the owner and without any forewarning. Cummins uses an older HPFP with lower pressure ratings and significantly lower risk of failure.
If Denso can make a fuel pump that can survive the conditions that caused the Bosch to fail, that would be an incredible improvement in diesel technology.
I'm also curious to see what transmission improvements are done to the Allison. Speculation has always been that the Allison trans was the limiting factor in power production for GM.
Anywho, great step (maybe LEAP) forward by GM.
Can you provide a link to back up that the 6.6 Duramax will have an all new HPFP? Until then I'll just consider your post another trolling post with always throwing something under the bus.
Troy, don't be mad that the Bow Tie will be the first at the top of the hill again! ;) Or be mad that the Bow Tie will not need 15K worth of repair work done when that CP 4.2 pump takes a dump. :B
Oh, here's your link. :)
Here's another. (Steel pistons; WOW!)
