Dusty under the cover........

Hi,
I have a GMC Denali with Snug-Top cover. I find that a lot of dust comes in through the tailgate when we do some exploring off road. It's pretty well sealed around cover on the bed. Does anyone have any experience sealing up the tail gate with some kind of weather striping?

Thanks,
  • Having the bed covered, seems to create a vacuum effect at the tailgate. I have a roll up cover, which I roll up, when on dirty dusty roads. You can buy an after market gasket system to seal your tailgate. While I have not tried one, I think it would certainly help. The ones I've seen were around $50, so not expensive to give a try.

  • I use adhesive backed foam tape around my tailgate. It's for household applications but seems to be holding up ok. Didn't know about the specialized aftermarket stuff.

But there's also holes in the bed that need to be covered or plugged. Regular duct tape is not working there because of the spray liner. Will try some of that Al backed tape next.
  • Google tailgate weather strip and you should find what your looking for.
  • There are companies that make a weather seal just for tail gates. I had one on my 2014 Ram. It was better than nothing, but didn't totally seal it up.

    Lots of options out there.
