Im not sure but I think the vented cat uses some 12 v power , the PLAT Cat . But that's a VG safe heater.

Wave has a heat range 1600 btus to 3000. There is no open flame, just a glow.
Plat cat does vent... Takes .5 amps to run the fan. Can operate with a remote thermostat like your furnace. Each time it turns on to heat it takes around 2-3 minutes to start... During that time the heating element takes about 5 amps.
