Eagle cap 960 falling apart?

So this morning when I walked into the camper the floor had an awful creak in it that wasn't there previously. I looked underneath and I find one screw has worked it's way completely out and the others are about 1/3 of the way out the whole length of the camper floor! I've contacted EC to see what they have to say but I'm not too happy. Just bought the camper brand new in Feb. Has about 6k miles on it, been down some FS roads but this seems unacceptable....should this be expected? (god i hope not).

  • Is that a storage compartment?? If it is, it would not take me long to ram my head or hand into one of those exposed screw tips that are hanging down. Why would they use such long screws??
  • Unfortunately, I think it's expected to have a poor job adding screws in our RVs. I'd just fix that one myself but look at the rest if it wasn't under warranty. I'm surprised that the one screw made that much noise. I think there must be something else going on.

Since you bought it new, I'd have the rest checked out after talking to the Manufacturer.

I will read how the warranty claim will procedure.
I never had good opinion about RV builders and this will not help in changing it.
I wonder if there is solid wood, or frame behind short screws, or just plywood.

yea i was having a little trouble with the picture at first. should be fixed.
i think it's just ply back there but i can try to check.
already emailed their warranty dept. just waiting to hear back.
  • Here's how it can happen. They used a 1/4 cordless impact driver instead of a torque limiting cordless drill motor. Those impact driver can snap screws, so it's pretty easy to strip the wood. They were better off with a corded screwgun.
