OK...like you I also was dismayed that nothing was on the Eagle Cap roofs to assist getting onto the roof in a safe manner. I just completed this install of the TopLine TL 11018 Ladder Upper Assist like is shown on Buzzcut's Lance. Topline is also the supplier of the PHAT ladders used on the EC campers.
The ladder assist is available in Black or, the bright white that I ordered. I ordered directly from Topline's Cust Serv - part was $35 and shipping $20. No hardware. Well packaged and arrived with no damage.
I confirmed the roof construction with ALP - basically 3" total thickness of which most is the insulation. The only structural support for fasteners are the two 1/8" thick sheets of Luan (a relatively soft, low-cost plywood), and maybe some grabbing support from the TPO roof material. Decided to use 1-1/4" #10 hex-head sheet metal screws which gave me more confidence than #8 size which were smaller than the bracket holes - had to lightly drill out the existing bracket holes for the #10's. Decided against any pilot holes to get maximum bite in through the TPO and Luan.
Located where I wanted the ladder assist, cleaned the TPO with soapy water and finished with a wipedown using denatured alcohol. Installed butyl tape (KST Coatings aka KoolSeal) underneath each bracket, set the assist in place and drove the screws down using a nut driver to compress the butyl tape by hand (to prevent stripping out the Luan). Dicor 501LSD over the brackets. WORKS GREAT!
