- atreisExplorerAll of this bickering about the price just comes off as sour grapes to me. If they're way over-priced they won't be in business long. The problem, if there actually is one, will take care of itself.

Seriously with the cost again? Go look at EarthRoamer.com, you can get a lot cheaper from them. the guy in the video was referring to that specific unit, which is the same one that I've seen at quite a few shows and videos... Since it's the same one I'd guess it's not a customer unit, but a show unit. Likely it has more options to show off a little more.
What alternatives are out there that are comparable in size, room, storage and luxury that are cheaper. Let's keep it apples to apples. It has to at least be this capability.
I'm still interested to know what you know in regards to Dick Smith? His blog seems to show nothing of regret or negativity. I'm sure he had a couple issues, but on the route he took what wouldn't have a couple issues? I don't think if Dick had a lot of negative things to say that EarthRoamer would have him on the website.
If it's not for you it's not for you and that's okay. EarthRoamers, Newells, Toy Haulers and such really aren't for me (I'm an Popup kinda guy), but I still respect those that do something a little different or strive to be a little better than the next guy. They're out of my league, but looking at them in person sometimes gives ideas for mods or things to do in a smaller unit.
That was my point earlier. Just take a look around here. 60k truck plus 60k fiver seems hypocritical. Of course there are cheaper options. We can also sleep in tents. - Robb_DExplorer

Maybe 470K for some people is out of their ball park. Better said is that there are similar alternatives for those with a smaller budget. I know people who have traveled the world with a diesel pickup and a truck camper and covered Africa, Central and South America, Europe, and now Asia is next. They have a shower and all the amenities.
If I were rich I would buy one, only after donating most of my wealth to charitable organizations. In the meantime, a used 4X4 Class B with lots of solar and batteries that can fit in a cargo container on the cheap would have to do. I think the views will be the same. So what if I can't get to the top of Everest.

Just don't know why one would pay such a high premium for a purpose built vehicle and than neuter it.
I don't disagree. Plus the bigger tires just look better! - mich800Explorer

I'm sure for a fee you could have them upgraded!

why not go with a quigley 4x4 van...I owned one (just van..not a rv) and it was a tank!
Quigley makes converts van/rv chasis to 4x4 for around $10-12k
quigley 4wd van conversions
sportsmobile does the rv conversion on top of the quigley van chasis:

Consigned EarthRoamer, it's sold now. There's a link to the specs that shows what the consigned price was.
Now, not that in the video, the guy said "this particular truck," if you look at the pricing structure, one could be had for less...
