If you do decide to visit Grand Teton (and you should) the one road to avoid when leaving for Yellowstone is route 22 over the Teton pass west of Jackson. 10% grades and sharp curves. Much easier on your transmission and brakes to either go around through Idaho Falls or north to Yellowstone's South Entrance and through the Park to West Yellowstone.
The 7 day entrance fee to Yellowstone includes Grand Teton and vice versa, so no extra cost to visit both Parks.
