When buying the suction cups remember to get as heavy duty as possible. We also do this and we first got(by mistake) 20 pound holders which is smaller and didn't know it at the time. We just looked at package and said to ourselves that's it, "suction cups". They didn't work good with wet towels or maybe wind. Got some of those 88 pounders and works fine. The flatter and cleaner the surface to better they hold. We use our little broom handle as the rod.
