Part throttle with a turbo is also an important difference as to why it feels like they tow so well too.
Turbo's are load dependent. Let's see if I can explain simply....
You a cruising at 1/4 throttle.
You hit a hill...engine is working harder (more load).
Turbo boost increase, power increases, you go up the hill without having to push the throttle more.
This doesn't address the tow rating increase, and obviously there are limits to this, but it does explain why people like the way towing with a turbocharged engine "feels".
