^No, a V6 Ecoboost doesn't have the high duty cycle longevity that the bigger trucks are designed for. Would it work for the weekend warrior/commuter/soccermobile F250 folks? Sure, but the fuel mileage would be out of "Eco" mode more than in a 150 and it would drink gas like...a big block anyway.
Most things are a compromise in life, Ecoboost is no different. Advantages, hot rod engine with great towing characteristics.
Disadvantage, it's still a small engine working it's @ss off when you mash the pedal uphill with a trailer on the back. Moreso than a naturally aspirated engine that makes it's power with physical displacement, not virtual displacement.
And it wouldn't put hardly a dent in diesel truck sales. It's still 1/2 the torque, 2/3 the fuel mileage.
