This entire thread is about how gas engines don't have to be "gutless", and why people like towing with turbocharged engines like the ecoboost (or turbodiesels) vs a NA gas engine.
Diesels were pretty gutless too before they added turbochargers. Turbos are simply a great fit for towing if the engine package is designed to handle the abuse. Engine load driven power adder that can compensate (to an extent) for air density changes.
Diesel fuel isn't magic. Just different.
