I don't know of the allure you speak of. The diesel 1500 was/is just a dramatically better tool for the job I need it to do ie transporting Airstream TTs & boats. Fuel efficiency when towing is my number one business expense and directly effects my profit line. Gassers including the 2.7 EB are not efficient TVs. I'm not brand loyal so I'm looking forward to Fords f150 diesel. With respects to my ED I could not have asked for a more reliable truck for the last 340,000 miles transporting TTs. I never needed to use the factory 100,000 mile warranty and it's still a solid truck.
If the MY 19 updates & warranty provide a better 1/2 ton diesel than Ford I'll buy another Ram if not I'll buy the f150 diesel or GM or Toyota's diesel if they build a better one price acceptable. If I had an urban 1/2 ton for going to the grocery & Lowes & one longer camping trip a year I would seriously look at a gasser.
