Seems that previous threads discuss the viability but this is still a 1/2 ton (sorry for the connotation), BUT....the pulling power for its rating should be great.
Funny I remember buying my 1/2 ton that was 2 years old at $17k, now the pricing is up.. Encouraging to say the least that there are folks who can afford this truck, to me it is quite costly.
Besides, didn't Dodge come out with the diesel in the early 1990's in a half ton as well? :h
