Kind of a dumb test - but anyway why is the cash shop rate 1/2 of the "insurance rate"?
Pretty common across the board to get a significant discount for cash. Much less administrative work for the shop with a cash sale than fighting the insurance company. Same thing happens in healthcare.
And they're probably only get the "1/2 rate" from the insurance company in the end, anyway.
Same thing happens in healthcare ...

Cheers!

They only estimated what it would cost to repair a steel bodied truck. Why didn't they take a hammer to a 2014 model and take it to the same shop for repairs? ..............
I agree. Would have been much more meaningful. Especially if they had left the extra cost for the special tail light out of it. That has nothing to do with aluminum body. Edmunds failed on that one. - I assume about any dent from collision will be $3,000.
Big whoop.
What he did not mention is how an insurance adjuster will chisel them down at every corner and get 20% to 50% off the price vs. cash customer.
