I told her that they could borrow our hookups. I pulled it out of the ground in our site and stuck it in near their trailer. The look on her face; Priceless!

Reminds me of a story... I had reserved an electric site at the Wichita Mtns WildLife Refuge in Medicine Park, OKLA one trip but when I got there they were all taken. Being I was already setup for camping off the power grid it wasn't a big deal to me anyway so I just setup in a good spot mixed in with the tent campers
So here I sit with my POPUP with all my outside lights on, extension cords running to the picnic table, fan running on us sitting around the bonfire, HDTV antenna up, doing all the things we normally do at a regular electric site.
When it finally got dark I am fully lit up outside and as I look around the neighborhood all I see is battery lights and candles moving around inside the tents and maybe a couple of gas lights on.
Off to bed we all go... The next morning I was up poking the fire to take the chill off and finally one of the tent camper guys walks over and says "I just gotta ask - how do you do all of this... There is no electric here in this side of the camp ground at all..." Jokingly I say MAGIC BEANS... Then of course he gets the grand tour of my battery banks and inverters etc...
Your POWER PEDESTAL would have been great to have sitting there with my shore power cable plugged into it and water connection made... haha...
the fun we all want to have huh!!

Roy, how many batteries and what types (6 volt / 12 volt), wired in parallel or series? WHat size inverter?? Do you bring solar panels with you, if so how many watts worth? Just to top the batteries off, or can you charge them from low voltage? How long do your batteries last typically? - dannytasExplorerThanks, never have seen one...but I'll have to bring mine, when I finish building it. Job well done!!!!!!!!! :D
- Nvr2loudExplorer IIVery funny indeed :)
I have had a lot of trouble around here finding sites large enough for my trailer, but without power hook-up. I like having the power during July when I like to run the A/C but when it is cooler outside and I don't need it to run, the $7.00 per day charge for hook-up seems like a waste. - renopkerExplorer

Oh I am so making one of those, except I am going to label my box "VIP". That's just great!
I had thought about that or a reserved sign. Next year I'm going to make a plug in to it with about 10 plugs and cords (hiding the ends). - nunsieExplorerFunny stuff! A few yrs ago at the race in NH there was a similar set-up and everybody was staring trying to figure out how he got the only site with electricity and water. Gives everyone something to talk about anyways.

- opnspacesNavigator IIThat's funny, I'd love to see the looks on some peoples faces when they notice it in a non hookup area.
