We exclusively use one, sometimes two, ceramic heaters for two reasons. We don't use up our propane, and the heaters do a better job of consistent temperature control.
We have a 20 year old Duo-Therm thermostat that operates our furnace, and to switch it to digital requires a an expensive upgrade system so that a digital thermostat would operate our a/c and furnace. It's not something I'm willing to do until what I have fails and I'm forced to. Our current thermostat has a pretty large temperature swing running the furnace.
