Electric HW Heater Red Light On Panel Flashes

I have three red light switches on my panel. One is for the water pump, another is for the water heater on gas and the third is for the water heater with electricity.

Occasionally, after the water heat with electricity is on for a while, the red light on the panel will flash once.

Is this normal or is there a problem? Have not noticed it in the last four years doing this. To be honest I do not watch it.

The monitor/control panel is a couple of feet directly above the gas stove top. Would heat or moisture from cooking cause this?

Looking for answers and/or not trying to fix something that is not broken. Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks. Sure hope I have as good luck as you did and that it turns out to be something simple as a loose wire.
  • I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I thought there was a problem with the switch. My dealer provided a complete new panel under warranty and as I was removing the old panel and carefully working the wires out of the wall I noticed one white wire on the panel that wasn't connected to anything. You could tell from looking at the stripped end of the white wire that it had been in a wirenut. I looked in the wall and found a white wire with a wirenut and the nut was just slightly loose. I connected the white wire from panel to this white wire and tightened up the wirenut and the switch light worked perfectly.

I returned the new panel to the dealer and the original one has worked perfectly ever since.
  • If you have the packet that came with the trailer, there is I bet a small manual that explains how the monitor panel should work and what errors and failures it might exhibit…
  • Thanks, Biscuit! It stays on, just blinks a few times. Water is very hot; but also is very hot when on gas.

Looks like I might need to take the control panel off the wall and see if the switch is well connected. I suspect it might also be moisture from the stove top, as you say.

Now if I can just figure out how to get into that little rascal!
  • Is the water getting extremely HOT when heated by electric?

    Light just flashes.....doesn't stay ON?
Could be moisture from cooking getting into switch
Could be loose connections in switch
Could be loose connections on t-stat(s)

Could be one of those things.......intermittent and can't ID until it breaks!
