Electric motors have been "up to it" for decades and decades...
First career was in industrial motor controls, electric motors. Motion control, robotics, automation, systems control, process control, etc
Electric motors are the main driver of most all locomotives...for decades and decades...ditto Bullet Trained...their duty cycle is 100%... each pulling hundreds to thousands of tons all day...all week...all year long
The Tesla SUV just beat a Lamborghini Aventador by the smallest fraction of a second last week. Of course in a short distance Sprint...ov longer distances...the ICE will beat cuz of the higher RPM it has
A good electric and Great controller allows an electric to have over 300% torque at zero RPM vs and ICE's of zero torque at zero RPM...so which one eats the other off the line ???
Issue has always been the storage component IP and Tesla has chosen an older IP...capacitor batteries are coming in now....but limited in sizing...
Chinese college students (part if why the American middle class is no longer the weathiest...Canada now is) perfected CHEAP production method for graphene...where as for the last few decades...an EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE material to make
This now allows the potential of higher capacity and cheaper capacitors....ditto tires and tons of other stuff
Tesla's Lith-Ion IP better get better in a hurry...current IP is too slow in recharge...limiting regenerative braking....where as capacitor batteries are VERY good...they recharge in a flash
Thanks for posting !!! Fun stuff for me !!
