Key to Artificial Intelligence are these two main metrics, but not limited to these two...
Shall I pass by crossing the double line is one decision that is NOT allowed in a non-AI robot today...will the next gen AI-Robot make that decision?
There 'was' an AI robot in Moscow Russia that kept running away...caught because it's battery ran out...IIRC...three times (after wiping memory, new memory, etc)...they destroyed it...sent them email asking if anything...that one should be studied...
Think they were afraid of the answer to 'why did it run away' and only that one out of several others in that batch...

- Ability to learn. Whether taught or self by empirical (self taught/learning/etc) and the ability to make 'decisions' without human input/intervention/etc
- To then become sentient because of #1 above. Once a certain level is reached...they may NOT want to do something we demand them to do...or initial programming setup was...they will change that programming to whatever they 'decide' is right for them...AKA sentient...
