Hydrogen fueled Class 8 trucks are a long way off, despite what anyone (in the build industry) says..
Reason being is: The fueling process is complex. You cannot just pull into a fuel stop and fuel the vehicle. Hydrogen transfer not only takes time but it requires specialized transfer equipment and trained personnel. Consequently, it may work in a fleet situation where a qualified fuel attendant fuels the units but on the road at a fuel stop in bum fun Egypt, no way.
Diesel will be around for a long time before being replaced with alternate fuels and power systems simply because of the complexity of the fueling process.
