US Energy Usage and Production
The decreased energy usage was caused by the recession. You can see all of our recessions since 1950 are reflected by lower energy usage. It takes years to recover each time. We have also outsourced some energy intensive businesses to other countries, such as primary steel. More honest to look at the world's energy use. Further from this same source, US energy production has never been higher, that energy is going somewhere. So for the world:

Take a close look at pages 8 and 10. As Asia and Africa continue to modernize energy use will climb. After all, they have TV and can see how we live. They just want the same life as you and me. By the way, if you read the report, there is lots of wishful thinking about reducing the rate of increase (not decreasing usage), but that is just wishing. Mam, just the facts Mam.
