For all those considering a small generator to charge their EV, OMG the pollution. I thought they were concerned about lawn mowers? And cows farting and burping? And now everyone will need a generator (running on gasoline/diesel) so they can drive to work.
You are assuming companies do not have back up power generators. You would be surprised how many companies have them to keep business operating even without main power. Many places like hospitals, large grocery stores, hotels, data centers, call centers, schools, and so on have back up power generators.
OK and what do the other 98% do at work when the power is out?
Another assumption. I would bet way more people than that can work without power. Home builders, construction workers, delivery drivers, local/long haul truck drivers, police officers, fire men, EMS, military, farmers, ranchers, postal workers, railroad workers, utility companies, mechanics, oilfield workers, ...... I can go on and on.
Education and health services is one of largest industries of employment and any hospital by law is required to have back up generators for life support systems. Many clinics do as well. Most schools have back up generators so they can still operate with main power.
So I am not going to make the assumption on some exact number to fit my narrative, but I would wager that way more than 98% of the workforce can either work without power or work at a facility that has back up power.
