Electrical question

I have a 2018 Palomino Puma 32RKTS and have a question about electrical. I connected my portable generator the other day (30amp) and all my a/c outlets inside and outside the rv worked fine along with all other items that use electricity. When I removed the generator and switched to the 12volt battery, none of the electrical outlets worked, but all the inside led lights, awning lights and slides worked on battery. The inverter screen is showing 12.3vdc, 00.4amp, and 113vac.

What would cause this? Thanks....
  • If the battery is indeed at only 12.3 V, it's pretty much discharged. may not support much if any inverter load and the inverter may cut out due to low input voltage with any load applied.
  • Low voltage is probably caused by a WFCO converter notorious for not charging at boost voltage when expected.
Good chance battery is undercharged and sulfating.
  • That is a 1000W inverter. It is not going to power all your outlets.

It's not a question of outlets, it's a question of load. I added a transfer switch and a 1000VA inverter to our trailer. It's connected to all the outlets, and the microwave, nothing else. We are carefull on the loads, and have zip, zero, nada problems with that configuration. Have a true inverter microwave and at 50% or less power level total draw is 900VA, makes it easy to heat stuff in the morning or on the road w/o firing up the generator.
  • I have self installed 300w inverter connected to all my outlets. Just for small items. Works perfectly.

An OEM install has to consider the average user does not understand power limits. Most likely the installed inverter is dedicated to the fridge only. Could be rewired but then it is up to the user to know their limits.
