Emergency water heater help

Hi to all on the forum. I need some water heater help so the wife doesn't kill me. LOL we own a 2012 Gulfstream conquest 33 foot. I have a switch by my kitchen cabinet that says water heater with a red glowing light that says reset. The switch says on and off. On the outside of the trailer inside the water heater box there is also a on off switch. This morning after making sure that the water tank was full I turned on both the inside and outside switch to the on position. The red light inside the trailer stayed lit. We had hot water but only a few seconds worth. I am currently trying to fire it up using the LP gas, but there is nothing happening either. The red lights inside the trailer is no longer lit and I still have no hot water. Is not the LP gas separate from the electrical side of this water heater? Should I not still be able to get hot water from the LP gas side? Am I using the switches incorrectly? Should I not be able to light this with a lighter if the igniter is not working? Sorry for all the questions, but coming up on Sunday I really would love to have some hot water. Thanks guys
  • Dunno about all your questions, but, no, you can't light it with a lighter if the igniter isn't working. It has no pilot light, just a sparker, and if it doesn't spark for some reason, it won't light, either.

And no, the hot water heater doesn't have "sections" it is all one unit. The electrical heat rod is inside the tank, and the propane burner is at the bottom of the tank and outside it. I gather you are on shore power? If not, how's your battery holding up?
