When I went to look at it, I asked him what he had done and he named off a dozen different things that I wish I had written down. So far this is what I figured out he did do:
1. Banks 3" exhaust (big stuff back then I guess).
2. I will neither confirm nor deny the presence of a catalytic converter
3. Banks Exhaust Brake
4. Banks Turbo Housing
5. Wicked Wheel 2
6. AMSOIL High By Pass Oil Filters for both Tranny and Engine
7. 6.0 Tranny Cooler
8. Gauges: EGT, Boost, Tranny Temp, Diff Temp
9. Early Chip Mod (Can't recall who made it, since replaced with 6 position Chip)
10. Upgraded Altenator
11. Goose Neck Hitch
12. Super Truss Hitch and Camper Tie Downs
13. Air Bags with onboard compressor
14. Banks Tranny Controller
15. Other stuff I'm still finding...
some early 99's came with cats some didn't, so I just strait piped mine as there was no way to tell if it had one or not. the turbo on the early 99 was the biggest thing, small housing low flow, different pedistal so you cant use the ones from the later modles or most of the garrett aftermarkets. some one was making a domanater 66 turbo, maybe it was Beans that had 40% more flow than the factory and would hold 40 PSI all day. also make sure you look at the tranny if it is the auto. there are upgraded selinoid packs you should do, make sure you have the multi stage lock up clutch. I also had all the find on my torque converter tigwelded in place, better clutch packs and some heavier duty internals. also put a tugger 2 shift kit in it. the trannys are a week point from the factory if you start putting real powewr into them.
I had DP tunes (still the mecca of 7.3 tuning) in mine and was dynoed at 445HP and 925Ft-LB. it was a real fun truck to drive, but I had to upgrade to a 2014 due to the 99 only being a f250 and couldnt haul my 5th wheel and remain leagal.
I can tell you as much as i loved that 7.3 this factory stock 6.7 totaly out tows it , the mid range on the 6.7 is way stronger. the only thing the 7.3 had on this new truck was a bit better fuel milage due to my mods and wide open throttle acceleration was way faster.
while I am totaly happy with my 2014, I sure miss being able to blow the doors of a tuned up sports car , the look in there eyes when a big truck pulls away from them was priceless.
