Never had issues with typical freeway interstate steep grades. Max they can be is 6 with intermittant spurts to 8%. The curent tow rating spec, is 12%, 12.x, you can stall it out. So if you end up on some of the steeper forest service grades, park grades, boat ramps, local grades like I was on a couple of times today in the 18-20% range. THATs when you will know if you have the correct torque, gears in trans, rear axel ratio etc. Otherwise, you will be stalled out, no matter if you have over 1000 lb ft of torque. Seen a moving van stalled out after going no less than 60mp on all freeways from Lousianna to here in the seattle area.
