The 300hp/320ftlb in our son's Mustang would beat a new Powerstroke like a red headed step child in a drag race too, with 1/3 the torque and 150 less hp.

It can be if it weighs less, power to weight ratio. And the mustang might win if the truck is stock, if the truck has been tuned not so much.
I think that was his point. The 2.7 truck weighs a bunch less than the power stroke truck.
