ALL 4400 hp locomotives goes up a grade at identical speeds, whether it's a diesel making 25,676 lb-ft @ 900 rpm, or a turbine making 2,567.6 lb-ft @ 9,000 rpm. The traction motors do not care.
Yep and this explains why the "torque matters" and "torque doesn't matter" guys are both kind of right and kind of wrong.
Farm tractors and construction equipment engines have always been rated & sold by HP too.
