Torque is a force, not power. Power is torque applied over time and distance. 1000 lbft of torque applied at zero rpm produces zero HP.
This is the problem. People think engine torque is a force period. Engine torque is always at some rpm or rpm range either stated or not. Even if the rpm is not stated engine torque or axle is always implying a certain rpm. Torque at rpm is power.
