- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII've run across a lot of 'incompetent' types in the NAVY, in government positions and in private sector.......incompetency is not exclusive.
'Mess up-Move up' (not exactly in those words) was a common saying in all of those entities....common because it was true - mudfuel07Explorer

I think most who go into government service are incompentent in the real world to begin with, and want to work for the government for the easy paycheck, high benefits, and difficulty of ever being fired, no matter how terrible they are at the job.
That's funny.
I left the "real world" for a job with half the pay, worse medical insurance, and a pension I would never collect on. Being an exempt employee, I could be fired at will (hourly's have better protection) and the "easy job" was a lot more stressful than the one I had in the private sector. Why did I do it? The opportunity to serve, to know that I could actually make a difference. Am I proud of my public service? Absolutely. Even in the face of detractors who have no clue.
Amen to that! I worked in private for over 15 years. I went to work in my current job so that I could help to ensure the survival of my industry. As said above, I could be fired at the drop of a hat, but the ability that I have to spend time with my son and watching him grow up is worth the risk. - blt2skiModeratorbmanning,
you are correct in that any topic like this bring out the worst if you will of folks. But knowing many that served this country proud, did the best they could be it in the military, government work etc.......to put all of them in a bad spot because of the one in a hundred bad apple which occurs in ALL jobs and business's.....its not right.
I do agree that some factions of the government like the EPA some times the left is harming the right hand if you will when both should be working together, as one does this, which hurt the that the other implemented to stop something, at the end, both made it worst!

As the OP you totally have my blessing if you'd like to pull the plug on this one; I found the article interesting since the good & bad of EPA regs are often discussed here but in hindsight it's a very incendiary topic and probably best put to bed. - blt2skiModerator

I guess before I shut this down for th epolitical content, I know many that work at different agencies with in the government, both local, county, state and federal. While "some" are there for this reason, we also have many of the brightest brains, good workers etc also. The issue becomes be it private, or public run, BOTH types of business's have these two folks working together, so while the idea, how to implement the idea is done by a smart person, the folks below will screw it up as they do not care.

and many are promoted till they are incompetent.
so true! - Chuck_thehammerExplorerinflated resume's common. but BS is BS.
and many are promoted till they are incompetent. - The_TexanExplorerColleges have taught Lying 101, I mean Resume Writing, for years, so what does one expect. I have heard an HR manager tell college student to ALWAYS embellish their traits and accomplishments as that will make them stand above the others. Our youth has been led down a false path by many educators and now believe that things we considered illegal or immoral, to be OK and the norm today.
