EPDM ... Walls?

I searched, and i might've not been using the right keywords - so i apologize if this has been discussed.

i've been reading up on roof repairs - it seems like the simpelest method is replacing all of the wood and bonding EPDM to the roof for a good seal.. what about using this on walls? i could see this as an alternative to the corrugated metal siding, you could lap the roof seam over the side seam a few inches.

is this insane? has anyone tried it? I'm just spit-balling here. :)

EPDM is the same thing as inter tube for a tire so I don't think I would want it on the sides kind of soft.

in the same way that mud is the same as adobe bricks..

there are a wide variety of "types" of epdm - we use it on the facilities i work with for roofing membrane, it is tough enough that we can walk on it and run motorized equipment across it.

I would be considering a product like water and ice potentially. i'm not sure that it is pratical, cost effective or even wouldn't look flat out stupid.. just was thinking on it. I know that a lot of owners have resorted to "unique" solutions to their camper woes and didn't know if anyone had found a good product for it. (looks like no, because it probably isn't worth it)

  • The basement and underside of the wings on my 2008 Okanagan are covered with the same material as the roof. So far it is holding up great. I do not think it would be a great idea on the sides though.
  • Unless it was bonded very thoroughly, I think it would tend to sag over time.

Interesting, Other than it would look pretty bad very quickly between the material itself and the caulking needed to seal it- might work. Material is pretty soft so I see on sides being torn easily-cost wise unsure, Would be heavy. Dont know if glue long term would hold in vertical-would be a pain if you had to open up.
    Look like a big marshmellow?

hmm, that is a good point about it being soft. i've not actually used the stuff so i don't know what it feels like. i'm just curious about these sorts of things :)
