It also generates a significant amount of noise. My wife calls the hitch "Mona."

Mile High, I have the Reese Strait Line on my 6500-700 pound loaded TT. It is picky about adjustment. However, when it's adjusted correctly, it is fantastically stable at 75mph.

Just towed our Laredo 240 MK with our Ram 2500 Hemi to Myrtle Beach and back from Ohio, using the 4 pt Equalizer. Towed fantastic, no sway at all, truck and trailer sit nice and level. Highly recommend after using a WD hitch with friction control.

Thanks folks -I'm getting an education on the latest technology :) Leaning toward the Reese integrated strait-line with the dual cam. Is that overkill for a 7,000 GVWR trailer?

These are by far the better hitches. They cost more but eliminate sway, not just mitigate or control it. You have a lot of money invested in the truck and trailer, why not invest in a quality hitch?

The way I look at it, there are 4 types of hitches,

1. the ball, nothing else

2. a weight distributing hitch that you can add a friction sway bar to

3. an integrated hitch with built in wd and sway features.

4. the pro pride and hensley type of hitch that use a completely different style of engineering to accomplish anti sway and wd

Personally I would avoid types 1 and 2. I have an Equalizer and am happy with it. You will have to decide if you want a friction type (like the Equalizer, E2 or Reese Trunion) or a mechanical type that uses chains, cams and other things. I like the Equalizer for the end results but also it is easy for me to hook and unhook and I can do it on uneven ground. When I look at the E2 and the Reese Trunion it looks like they are copies of the Equalizer.

There is a newer hitch out there. The Anderson gets good reviews from owners and I understand that it is much lighter and easier to use. You might want to look into these too.

I have a Equal-i-zer WD hitch and it has been great!... I won't buy any other kind of WD hitch!

Scottg could please expand upon what you mean by when the trucks system kicks in, it brings the whole load to a stop?

The Equal-I-zer generates friction at 4 points -- the E2 generates friction at only 2 points.
