Having used a 1000 / 10,000 lb Equal-i-zer myself for many years I'd find the ride awfully stiff with as little as 400 lbs of gross tongue weight. Progress itself would seem to agree as the company offers a 600 / 6,000 lb version that would be my choice for any trailer with a gross tongue weight consistently below 600 lbs. With a gross trailer weight averaging 5500 lbs loaded and ready to camp the OP's trailer should be running ~ 750 lbs of gross tongue weight so the 1000 / 10,000 Equal-i-zer would be his correct choice.
