Equalizer hitch

TV is 2013 Ford F150. 1850 payload,tow package all the goodies. 5.0
TT is 5500 lbs loaded. I want to buy an Equalizer hitch.
Which one do I want ????
  • Go with the 10K...90-00-1000 Equal-i-zer.

That's what I used for 10 years towing my 6000lb GVWR TT with my F150 without any problems. And the trailer was never loaded to it's maximum GVWR capacity.
  • Scaled weight. The tt is Coachmen Freedom Exp
    246rks. Tw is 520
  • If you are looking for a good weight distribution hitch consider the Husky centerline, Blue Ox, ProPride, Hensley, or Reese Dual Cam. All will work well for you.
  • Best thing to do is figure out the actual tw. Is the 5500lbs scaled weight, or estimated? Follow my signature link for the CAT Scale how to, and stop by the nearest one for 3 seperate weights.

Going by the 5500lbs loaded weight, if you have the average 12-15% tw you could have 660lbs- 825lbs. Based on that I would suggest the 1k lb bars, regardless of what tv you have. You should size the wd bars to the actual loaded tw.
  • Whats the trailer tongue weight?
    Whats make model of trailer?

Your probably at the 6 k level of hitch 90-00-0600

But I would maybe go with the 10K...90-00-1000 This have the 1000 lb bars...

    Your right on the cusp...

But then again you trucks suspension is adequate for the 6k..

If you had a weaker smaller truck suspension like I have go with 10K..

I have the 10k and pull 4500-5000 wet... With my s10..
