That sick feeling of a slow slide , once experienced , is never forgotten . Many of us feel your pain . There is one trick I've learned after many years of plowing . In situations like your drive , going down a slippery slope , you have better control in neutral going slow .With a high torque engine going very slow the rear wheels are still trying to drive even at idle . If it's slick enough the rear wheels will spin and the the rear goes sideways . In drive the front brakes tend to lock up first and there goes the steering . It's not a cure all but it helps a lot .
