If you have trouble driving a FWD vehicle up a hill, try it in reverse. It will put all the weight on the drive wheels and give you much better traction. I had a FWD service van that was tail heavy and had to make a few runs on hills in reverse to make it to the top. There's a reason old VW Bugs and Buses do so well on poor terrain.
