once I was crawling across a field in 1st gear and I hit a large rock hidden in the grass. My head smacked the windshield and broke it. DW didn't believe I was going slow. Said I would not have hit the windshield going 5mph.
In your case an 8 to 9 thousand lb truck takes a lot to stop it.
